Beverly Petow
Personal & Professional Highlights
Beverly was born in Barstow, California and (fast forward) graduated with honours 42 years later with an interdisciplinary BA in Art & Psychology from Marylhurst University, Portland, Oregon.
She began the new millennium on her newly adopted home of Vancouver Island in January 2000, where she lives with a view to the US, firmly planted on the side of a mountain facing south. Her metal studio adjoins her home overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
She helped found and has remained part of the 'Stinking Fish Studio Tour ' for 13 years with one or two annual shows per year. She volunteered with the West Shore Arts Council for six years as member, editor of ARTnews newsletter, and on the board of directors. Since 2007 she has been part of organizational committees and the graphic designer for the Sooke Fine Arts Show, one of BC’s largest and longest running art exhibitions, which displays works of hundreds of BC’s west coast islands artists. As a submitting artist her works were accepted every year she made entry and she has won 3 major awards - 2013 Best 3D, 2009 Best 3D, 2005 Best Sooke Regional Artist.
Her creative outlets include 30 years as owner/designer of Petow Design, graphic design for print media. As a visual artist and hands-on person she confesses the internet still intimidates her.
Since 2009 she has been represented by Douglas Udell Gallery in Vancouver, BC & Edmonton, AB and since Spring 2014 her works can be seen at the Duthie Gallery on Saltspring Island.
Commissions can be made by appointment with the artist.
